Farewell 2016, Hello 2017!

Farewell 2016 and Hello 2017!

I really feel like 2016 flew by in a flash, does anyone else feel that way too?  As my winter break has come to the end, I've had a good amount of time to really reflect on how the year went overall and what I hope for the new year.

First, let's reflect about 2016.  Luckily I had blogged about my 2016 New Year's Goals, so I wanted to see which ones I was able to complete.

Reference here are again:

Tidying according to Marie Kondo's the life-changing magic of tidying up.
I'm going to say that I was successful with this goal!  I was able to let go of a lot of personal possessions that were great memories but currently served no purpose but to take up space in a pretty decorated box.  My clothes are still folded and organized in the way Kondo suggest and I am actually able to fold faster (according to my husband).

So this goal gets a big fat CHECK in successful-ness!

Work on my blog consistently.
I was so successful in posting every week and even increased it to twice a week from January to July of last year.  I started to fall behind once summer hit and I was busy traveling, working, and other events.  I thought I could pick it back up in August but once the new school year hit, I was overwhelmed with working in a whole new grade, learning new curriculum, and getting to know my kiddos.

I can only give my self a "half" check for this because I was consistently for only half of the year. (Better luck next year right?)

Learn hip-hop dances through Youtube.
I attempted to learn 2 different dances with one of my friends at the beginning of the year but then we never tried again.  BUT, I did run an after school hip-hop dance club in the Spring and am currently running one this new school year.

I am going to give myself a CHECK because I was able to finally "teach" hip hop instead of just learn it, which was actually one of my "life goals".

Get better at taking photography.
This one is kind of open ended.  I think I initially wanted to learn how to use a DSLR camera but I never had a chance to.  I will say that I have been more successful in how I take my pictures and became more artistic in my photography.

So with that I give myself a CHECK!

Practice the ukulele and guitar.
I started to really practice the guitar for a good month but of course stopped.  Never practiced the ukulele because it needed new strings, but once we finally restrung my ukulele it was already summer time and I became super busy.

So this one was a dud, no success in completing this goal. (womp, womp.)

Paying off credit card, paying down student loans, and saving money.
I am proud to say that I was successful in all three! I still have student loan debt but the progress I have made in paying it down last year is incredible.

I have my husband to thank greatly because of his great money managing skills.  So CHECK for this one! (Thanks hubby!)

Find a house.
I think it took a couple months into 2016 for Zach and I to realize that it would be best if we saved for another year.  So we hope to be looking for a house in 2017.  I feel like this will be our year for our own abode! =)

Now onto the new! Looking at last year's New Year's Goals really helped me think about what goals I want to set for myself this year.  I had a great conversation with my husband to about how to make my goals realistic and measurable. So I narrowed it down to 6 (for nowgoals I want to reach in 2017. (Please excuse the messy handwriting.)

I'm hoping that this will be a good start, but I will most likely add on a few more to my goal list.

What are some of your New Year's Goals this year?

Happy New Year!
